Hospice Handmade Heroes

Background Shape

We have an amazing network of artisans, makers and creatives, all focused on supporting Rossendale hospice with their skills. We call them the Hospice Handmade Heroes.

Do you want to use your skills, or learn new ones, to help Rossendale Hospice?

Early in 2022 we put a call out for local makers to help us with a little creative project for our shops and were blown away by the response of those wishing to help.

Soon we were inundated with donations of knitted blankets, macrame plant hangers and crochet teddies that went off to our shops and brought in more funds to help fund our services.

Thrilled at the generosity of our new supporters and the response from our shoppers to their creations, we decided to turn them into a brand so we developed Hospice Handmade Heroes.

These items all now carry our branding and can be purchased through our shops, at fairs and online in the knowlegde that not only are they brand new, they meet safety standards and are handcrafted with love exclusively for Rossendale Hospice.

How does it work?
You might be an individual, an artisan business or a local group who have the skills to be able to create marvellous items for Rossendale Hospice.

Whether you can create regularly, or just once or twice, we are happy to work with you. There is no expectation on quantity, though we may ask you how often you can make, just so we can plan when products will be available.

Can I make just anything?
Our shops are happy to take almost any donated items (as long it meets our safety guidelines)
However, to be part of our handmade heroes range, items need to meet certain criteria:

We have some items which we carry as official product lines and therefore need as much stock of as possible, so if you are thinking of joining in, making those items will be most helpful.
We have patterns and guidelines in the library below to help you out and guide you as to what materials to use to ensure they can be legally sold.

These are items that will be sold onlline as well as in the shops. Even though they will be handmade, one Bella Bear should look very much like the other Bellas so that customers know what to expect from their purchase.

Can I make anything else?
Yes! if you have an item you love making and think it would be a good Rossendale Hospice product, we are happy to consider it for part of our range.

If we really like it and it proves popular with our customers we may ask you if you are happy for other people to make your product idea too so that we can provide enbough to meet demand. You can always say no if you'd rather keep it as yours.

Do I have to brand it myself?
No, we can do all that in house so no need to worry.
We'll do everything to make it shop ready including adding a tag that has your first name on it to say it was made by you!
