Friday 5th December marked Rossendale Hospice’s 25th Annual Ladies Christmas Lunch fundraising event.

Rossendale Hospice’s annual Ladies’ Christmas Lunch once again proved to be a powerful celebration of community, compassion and generosity, bringing together supporters, local businesses and guests for an unforgettable afternoon of fundraising and heartfelt moments. Held in Rawtenstall, the much-anticipated event raised vital funds to support the Hospice’s essential work, while shining a light on the life-changing impact of hospice care across the Rossendale Valley.
Guests were deeply moved and honoured to hear from Hazel Holland, a cherished patient and long-standing advocate of Rossendale Hospice, as she bravely recounted her journey with breast cancer following her diagnosis in 2020. Speaking with openness and heartfelt emotion, Hazel shared the realities of her treatment and the crucial role the Hospice has played in supporting her and her family throughout each stage of her illness.
Her words left a profound and lasting impression on everyone in the room. Hazel described Rossendale Hospice as “a safe place where people can go for support to help make life easier than being at home on your own,” a sentiment that resonated powerfully with guests and underscored the purpose of the event. Her testimony brought into sharp focus the life-changing impact hospice care has on individuals across the community, reminding attendees exactly why their support is so vital.
The event’s success was made possible thanks to the exceptional generosity of many local businesses, whose sponsorships and prize donations significantly contributed to the event’s achievements. Equally remarkable was the kindness and enthusiasm shown by the guests themselves, who took part in raffles, auctions, and fundraising activities with extraordinary goodwill. Their heartfelt support created an atmosphere of unity and compassion, demonstrating a shared commitment to ensuring Rossendale Hospice can continue its vital work.
With tickets selling out in just 19 minutes, anticipation was high, and the event exceeded all expectations, raising an outstanding total of £26,000 for Rossendale Hospice. From start to finish, it was an occasion to remember and a true celebration of community spirit.
Special recognition must be given to the incredible Special Events Committee, a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly year after year to bring this event to life. Their commitment, from sourcing prizes and coordinating ticket sales to managing table plans and ensuring every detail runs smoothly, continues to be the backbone of this flagship fundraiser. Rossendale Hospice extends its heartfelt thanks for their unwavering support, passion, and hard work.
