Waterfoot based company Arthouse holding our own version of the Great British Bake Off to raise money funds for their nominated charity Rossendale Hospice.
Twelve budding bakers involved have been split into 3 groups. Each week a number of bakers will be challenged to produce their signature cakes, biscuits or pastries (sweet or savoury) which everyone will be able to try for £1 each. The winners of each week will then go forward to the next round with one person ultimately being crowned the Arthouse Bake Off King or Queen at the show stopper final.
Every department in the business is engaged and the competition involves bakers will different levels of baking ability from those who we know can bake amazing cakes to those who have never baked before but wanted to give it a go to support the hospice. As well as this we have a long line of people who can’t wait to make a donation to try the baked goods.
Kerry Woodall, the ‘Bake Off Adjudicator’ says “It’s a great team building opportunity to engage all employees either as bakers or tasters, it provides competition between departments but also a fantastic opportunity to raise money for the Hospice. This week we had Oreo brownies, rainbow cake, chocolate orange cupcakes and chocolate éclairs and they all looked and tasted fantastic!!!”
Rossendale Hospice Fundraiser Alison Whittaker-Stewart is calling for cake bakers to help raise funds one slice at a time! “Coffee mornings or afternoon tea at home are great opportunities to catch up with family and friends you haven't seen for a while or you could hold a cake sale or baking competition at work like Arthouse? What a delicious way to have some fun and help bake a difference to the lives of people in Rossendale!”
