Ladies' Christmas Lunch 2021

ANNUAL LADIES’ CHRISTMAS PARTY RAISES THOUSANDS FOR HOSPICE

Nino’s Restaurant, Rawtenstall played host to over 170 of Rossendale’s Ladies last week for a Christmas Fundraiser all in aid of Rossendale Hospice.

The event was organised by the Special Events Committee, a group of fantastic volunteers who dedicated the past few months to liaising with local businesses to source spectacular donations to the auction and raffle which ultimately raised £19,127 on the day.

The festivities got off to a thought provoking start with Hazel Holland, who talked about her personal journey with cancer as a reminder of why the Hospice is such an important community service and why raising money for it is so vital.

Post lunch the fundraising began in earnest with compere Joe Casserley keeping up with the bidding frenzy for lots such as holidays in Tenerife and Wales, A Day at the Races, gym memberships from new gym, Thrive and a bespoke garden design from Simon Nuttall at NuttHutt.

One of the most sought after lots however were the VIP tickets to see Adele live at Hyde Park next year, kindly donated by Georgina Nuttall which went for a whopping £2100!

Guests were rewarded for their generosity with music from Callum Spencer and an afternoon of table service from the staff at Ninos.

Clare Richards, Head of Fundraising said “This event is always a great success thanks to the support of the ladies of the Special Events Committee and the local businesses who so graciously donate high value items to raise money for the Hospice. A special thanks to supporting businesses such as CFH Design who provided design and print materials, which allows for more funds to go directly on funding patient services. A huge thanks to the ladies for attending this event and helping raise so much money which will allow us to continue to make such a positive difference to people’s lives.”

R-Award for Best Not-for-Profit

We are so honoured that all our hard work over the past 12 months has been recognised with this fantastic award. Thank you so much to the judging panel at Rossendale Business Awards for selecting us as the winners of Best Not-for-profit.

We don’t do what we do for the awards but it is lovely to know our work is appreciated in the Rossendale Community and we accept it on behalf of every single person who helps make the Hospice the wonderful organisation it is, from the nurses and fundraisers to the office staff, the cleaners and of course our invaluable volunteers.

Congratulations to everyone who was nominated in all categories, especially our fellow charitable nominees. Keep doing what you do.

Penny Appeal 2021

Schools help make every moment count for Rossendale Hospice

From pennies, to pounds, to people: Pupils from over thirty Valley schools have been saving their pennies since the end of September all in support of Rossendale Hospice and their annual ‘Inter-School Penny Appeal’.

Pennies have been saved in their ‘Penny Boxes’ featuring new mascot, Penny the Pig and between them the schools have raised a wonderful £5,257.66!

The Challenge has been running for over 15 years and has raised in the region of £60,000 for the Hospice, all of which goes towards supporting Rossendale residents with life limiting conditions, often in their homes.

This year the winning high school is yet again, Haslingden High making this their eighth years in a row to bring in the highest amount. Northern County Primary in Bacup won in their category and the winning preschool/ nursery was Bacup Nursery School.

The winning schools have received a special Penny Appeal certificate to congratulate their efforts and each participating school have received a certificate of appreciation.

Fundraiser Joanna Williams said: “It’s wonderful to see schools engaging with our Penny Appeal year after year and so generously giving their own spare change to help people in their community. Seeing our younger residents getting involved with fundraising for Rossendale Hospice fills us with appreciation and hope for the future.

The Hospice couldn’t continue to run things like its ‘Hospice at Home’ service, or ‘Wellness Centre’ for day patients without the highly trained care team, the many volunteers who help to keep day to day running of the Hospice going, or ultimately our wonderful fundraisers, so thank you to each and every one of them”
