The Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit joined over 210 guests to raise an extraordinary £34,000!
At this year’s ‘Mad Hatters’ themed ball guests were treated to an evening of magic and mystery.
Mark Steel, a patient, featured in a video about his experience at the Hospice, which made its debut at the ball. He was able to attend on the night and received a warm welcome.
A Wonderland themed cake was donated by Molly Robbins of Molly’s Creative Cakes, the daughter of comedian Ted Robbins. It was auctioned off on the night, raising a show stopping £1,300 for Rossendale Hospice. This part of the auction was filmed by Channel 4’s new television series The Extreme Cake Makers, due to be aired in spring 2017.
Once again we are indebted to the Special Events Committee who are a group of super talented and creative ladies who work tirelessly to organise this and other Hospice flagship fundraising events. We’d also like to express our utmost appreciation to sponsor CFH Design, everyone who attended and all the local companies who donated raffle and auction prizes – the success of the event wouldn’t be possible without your support “.

5 Valley schools raised a record amount for Rossendale Hospice in an entrepreneurial challenge.
The event, jointly organised by Rossendale Hospice supported by Baldwins and Alder Grange School, is in its 5th year. The five schools raised a combined total of £7,130.64 in this year’s ‘Youth Enterprise Challenge’.
The contest, launched in October last year, lasted 16 weeks and saw Year 9 & 10 teams from Alder Grange, The Valley Leadership Academy, Whitworth High, Haslingden High and Tor View school, all come up with enterprising initiatives to generate as much income as possible to be donated to the hospice.
Thank you to all the schools who took part and for the hardwork and effort that went into their fundraising.
We are working as normally as possible in what is an unprecedented and ever changing situation, and following government guidelines to keep our patients, volunteers and staff safe. Our Hospice at Home Teams are continuing to provide essential care for patients in their own homes but unfortunately we've had to adapt some of our other service provision.
Our fundraising activities have also been impacted as we've had to cancel many upcoming events which we so rely on. We will be launching a campaign to run over the next 12 weeks, and while we appreciate these are the most difficult times for all, we would be most grateful if you are able to make a donation.
