Thank you to all who supported our collection day at Adsa Rawtenstall last Friday. We raised a fantastic £310.
Light Up A Life
St Mary’s Church in Rawtenstall was packed to the rafters on Thursday 13th December with nearly 500 people remembering their loved ones.
This year almost 800 dedications were made, which is significantly more than in previous years. The names of those remembered were shown on several screens, during a reflective candlelit service.
Local singing talents, Sean Ruane and Megan Makin sang a beautiful duet of ‘The Prayer.’ This along with fantastic singing from Crawshawbooth Primary School Choir and music from 2nd Rossendale Scout Band created an emotive atmosphere. Rev Stephen Crook always makes this non-denominational service very special. One gentleman, whose wife was cared for by the Hospice, reported feeling uplifted and very much enjoyed the service.
This event allows people to remember our loved one’s at Christmas, but also provides essential funds to ensure our services continue for local people. I am therefore delighted to say that with the dedications and attractions on the night an amazing £13,890 was raised!
Thank you to everyone who contributed, including our sponsors Fred Hamer Funeral Services.
Thank you to the cyclists and support team at Haslingden Cricket Club for donating £1000 to the Hospice. In July, a team cycled from the Lords Cricket ground to Haslingden Cricket Club raising an amazing £8000. Thank you to everyone involved!
Our day therapy patients enjoyed another visit from Chase the therapy dog yesterday. He enjoyed lots of cuddles and treats! Here is a picture of Chase leaving and taking a moment to watch all the passers by! Thank you Chase for bringing so much joy and happiness to so many.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Rossendale Hospice during Hospice Care Week. It has helped many local people living with a life limiting illness access the services they need.
If you are in Rawtenstall today why not pop along to Asda and say hello to our wonderful volunteers who will be there between 11am-4pm. They will have lots of Hospice information leaflets and various merchandise!
Listen to the views of some of our patients and hear about what the Hospice needs to provide our services.
