Ladies Christmas Lunch 2018

A day celebrating 30 years of Hospice Care raised an unbelievable £18,730!!

160 ladies supported Rossendale Hospice by attending their 18th luncheon at Nino’s Restaurant in Rawtenstall on Friday. The day was organised by the Special Events Committee and sponsored by CFH design.  The committee is a group of fantastic volunteers who dedicate their time to this event and the Hospice Annual Ball.  The group was formed 18 years ago and has developed over the years to produce spectacular events with great results for the Hospice.

The festivities got off to a thought provoking and quite humorous talk by Brenda Bottomley, an ex patient and our current Rossendale Woman of the Year along with her sister Denise.  She spoke to the guests about her time at the Hospice and how she continues to see the friends she made whilst attending day therapy.  Her testimony on behalf of the current patients was greatly received by the guests.

Guests were invited to partake in the raffle and a special prize draw to win a fabulous designer watch.  They enjoyed being entertained by ‘Dax on Sax’ and Joe Casserley, was the host.  He did a great job getting the bids started.  The Auction Prizes included tickets to see Take That, a 7 night stay in Malta with VIP entry to the Annie Mac Festival, Beauty & Interior designer packages and a day at Haydock Races.

The Hospice is overwhelmed by the generosity of the Valley people and beyond.  Local businesses and individuals who donated prizes and bought tickets to support the Special Events Committee with their fundraising.  Raising £18,730 in just 4 hours is phenomenal. The hard work that the SEC put into this event and the ball is greatly appreciated by everyone at the Hospice especially the patients.
