Rossendale Hospice would like to thank the Special Events Committee who once again organised a truly magnificent Annual Ball.
This years "Crystal" theme was truly dazzling with an overwhelming £53,000 raised. Guests enjoyed a superb dinner at Fence Gate and were entertained into the early hours by live band "the ‘Soulbrothers’ band.
A VIP package for four people at BBC Proms in the Park received the highest bid in the auction, reaching a wonderful £4200.
We also extend our utmost appreciation to everyone who donated auction and raffle prizes and to everyone who attended the event

Anthony Tookey kindly chose Rossendale Hospice as a beneficiary of £400, received as sponsorship from the Marl Pits triathlon he undertook in June 2008
Skydive in aid of the hospice

Councillors Peter Steen & Jake Berry recently leapt from 14,000 ft in aid of the hospice and to date have raised over £2000 in sponsorship. Peter has just recently retired and asked his work colleagues for sponsorship for his skydive in lieu of a retirement present. Peter says “Skydiving is truly exhilarating and certainly an experience I will never forget – if I can do it so can you!”

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Kathleen & Martin Igoe recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. They celebrated their special occasion with family and friends who were kindly asked to make a charitable donation in lieu of gifts and the Hospice is delighted to be the benefactor of £1010.00.

Rossendale Hospice shows their gratitude to donors of over £1000 by inviting them to have an engraved brass leaf on their ‘Giving tree’ situated in the hospice reception area (seen behind Mr & Mrs Igoe).


Colin Runs The London Marathon

“At the 23rd mile I was feeling tired, sore and very wet but I needed to finish the last 3 miles -
5 hours, 8 minutes and 20 seconds later I passed the finish line, it is such a great feeling.
I have done something worthwhile for a fantastic cause”.
Colin Nightingale from Bacup ran the London Marathon (completed in 5hrs, 8 mins & 20secs) on Sunday 13th April 2008 and chose us as the beneficiary of his sponsorship. To date he has collected a staggering £650 and his employer Royal Mail have agreed to do a match contribution of £500 – taking the total to £1150 with some still to collect

Antonia Pillatter Cycles 700km

Antonia Pillitteri, mother of three, completed a sponsored 700km Vietnam/Cambodia cycle ride in January/February 2008 on our behalf. The challenge involved cycling an average of 90km over seven days but the challenge was definitely worth it as Antonia raised a total of £1500 for the hospice funds.

In July, 2007 Vincent Zielonka and ten other walkers from Baxenden Chemicals climbed Ben Nevis, Scaffell and Snowdon in just under 24 hours, raising £1800

Charlie Twist and employees from Killelea’s also completed the Three Peaks Challenge in July, raising £1000 for the Hospice.
